NIMROD Composites

NIMROD Composites was contracted to make bamboo/epoxy panels for an outdoor structural application. The infusion process went very well:

Multiaxial bamboo fabrics 0/90° were hand layed
Vacuum was set before infusion
Infusion was successful due to a good resin migration/propagation in the fibres

The result is clean, mechanical properties are interesting and the visual appeal is great, which has made us buy the Bamboo 2×2 twill fabric from COBRATEX to make composite shaped parts, to be made in decembre.

Mecano-ID

Working with COBRATEX is a real pleasure on a daily basis, thanks to their reactivity, their availability and the quality of the technical discussions. The company never hesitates to come up with innovative ideas using the many possibilities offered by bamboo to meet our needs as accurately as possible.

The performances of the woven and UD reinforcements supplied to us that we have processed using LRI and RTM have exceeded our expectations, even for double-curvature applications with complex draping. These results suggest that these bio-based composites could even be used for space applications!

COMPOSITADOUR

We’ve been working with COBRATEX for several years now, as industrial partners in the development of their materials and as customers/suppliers for the production of bamboo fibre composite parts using different matrices (thermoplastic and thermoset) and different processes (automated draping, stamping, pressing, etc.). We work on complex parts in specific environments, with levels of maturity that are progressing very rapidly thanks to the COBRATEX teams with whom we enjoy working !

Unamas

Cobratex’ fibre enables to get a lighter skim or wakesurf board with a new feeling under our feet. Concerning processing, there is a significant advantage regarding surface sanding, as there is no thin harmful dust produced compared to Carbone. Furthermore, the fibre does not absorb resin. Resin savings, hence more sustainable. Concerning the design, it is very nice. It can be handled with polyester and epoxy resins. To be put in-between two layers of glass fibre. Very good product.

We approached Cobratex with the ambition to improving the environmental footprint of logistics. For this, bamboo seemed to us to be an obvious choice: light, resistant and renewable!
